A high tunnel is a different job from a backyard greenhouse. The frame is long, the plastic film has to be pulled tight, and the structure has to resist wind. Bootstrap Farmer’s kits, for example, assume ground posts at 4 ft spacing, pre-cut 48 inch posts sunk 2 ft into the ground, and a tunnel height of about 8 ft for a 12 ft wide house.

Post spacing. Bootstrap Farmer notes that some budget kits use bow spacing of up to 6 ft instead of the stronger 4 ft, and Cornell guidance says closer spacing, deeper posts and corner bracing raise load capacity. We follow the spacing your manual specifies and recommend bracing where wind demands it.
Squaring the corners. The makers advise squaring and sinking the corner posts first and running a mason line for depth. A tunnel that starts out of square never closes properly.
Film. Film that is too loose flaps and tears, and film that is too tight stresses the frame. This step needs experience.
Wind. Ground anchors give extra support in higher winds. We recommend deeper posts and extra lock-channel screws for wider houses in exposed spots.
Choose a level spot with good drainage and room to work on all sides, and tell us the length of the tunnel and the soil type. Rocky or compacted soil changes how the ground posts go in, so send a photo. We advise on anchoring and bracing for your wind exposure.
